Jaylen Meyer, wife to Nicholas and mother to four beautiful children ages 5-12, enjoyed homeschooling until August 2023. She was so devoted to her children's education that she also completed training for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, but only got to spend a small amount of time implementing that knowledge in an atrium classroom before life changed drastically.

Near the end of the 2023 summer, Jaylen was diagnosed with stage 3 Gastric Adenocarcinoma. This was a cancer found in the lining of her stomach. Jaylen and Nicholas made the tough decision to enroll their children in school at St Joe Ost so that she could begin chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatment. Unfortunately, in September 2023, further testing found that the cancer was stage 4.

This summer, 2024, after a few surgeries and 17 rounds of chemotherapy, doctors told Jaylen and Nicholas that the treatment was unsuccessful and the cancer had spread. The news was devastating, because Jaylen had been feeling well! Her team recommended a 2nd line of chemo, but Jaylen and Nicholas were not so sure that this was the best plan, as it would only try to control the disease from spreading so quickly and could not give any hope for a cure while making her feel weak and unwell.

But this family has
BIG FAITH.
So big, in fact, that they are taking a LEAP OF FAITH to seek the healing that Jaylen needs. She will begin consultations (and hopefully, treatments) with integrative oncologists at the Riordan Clinic in Wichita soon, but unfortunately this won’t be covered under insurance.
Jaylen’s family and friends have rallied to create several fundraising opportunities, and now are asking YOU, the community, to help in any way that you can.
We want Jaylen to enjoy her time with us, and with you, so come join us for fun while also supporting this beautiful soul.

O beautiful Rose of Carmel, St. Therese of the Infant Jesus, deign according to your promise to descend from heaven to visit those who implore you, to pour down on us in profusion those Celestial Graces that are symbolized by the shower of roses that Jesus, your Spouse, has put at your disposal. Your power is great with His Heart. He can only listen and hear your prayer. I have recourse then to you, O Saint Therese of the Child Jesus; assist me in this need (mention your intention).
Speak for me to Jesus and to Mary and obtain for me the grace to live a holy life and die a happy death. Amen.
